NaickarKuttai is a temple pond owned by Revenue Department and maintained by GCC. Water in the pond is brownish black in colour. Algae bloom seen in the pond.   The pond is not connected to any upstream & downstream water sources, gets storage during the monsoon. Catchment area is connected to local SWD. Benefits from the implementation of this project include improved year-round storage of water in the pond due to construction of inlet and connecting of SWD structure. Disposing off the surplus water from the catchment area safely to the nearby canal will help avoid inundation of the locality and improved ground water recharge, improvement of water quality by providing aquatic floating island and diversion of sewage discharge. Due to de-silting, water storage will increase and made available throughout the year. Fish culture will be developed. The pond serves as a spot of recreation to the local residents with walking path and children’s play ground.With proper counseling and guidance by the GCC Engineers, the Resident Association will take care of the pond and hence, water body will be protected. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
