Jayachandran Nagar Pond
Jayachandran Nagar Pond is a Temple pond owned by Revenue Department and maintained by GCC. Water in the pond is partly available and is pale yellowish in colour. Algae bloom seen in the pond. Fishes are observed in the pond. Aquatic birds are seen. The pond is not connected to any upstream & downstream water sources, gets storage during the monsoon. Catchment area is connected to local SWD network. Benefits from the implementation of this project include improvement of water quality by providing wetland system and aquatic floating island. Due to de-silting, water storage will increase and made available throughout the year. Fish culture will be developed. The pond serves as a spot of recreation to the local residents. With proper counseling and guidance by the GCC Engineers, the Resident Association will take care of the pond and hence, water body will be protected. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
