Kadaippaikeni is located in Karapakkam, situated between the IT Hubs of Thoraipakkam and Sholinganallur. It is parallel to Injambakkam on the ECR Highway. The suburb has experienced rapid development with the advent of IT companies along the Old Mahabalipuram Road. Karapakkam Kadaippaikeni is surrounded by residential areas on two sides. As per the site visit, the lake abuts Gandhi Street on the southern side and residential use on the western side. Karapakkam Kadaippaikeni residential areas form the western parts with Gandhi Street forming the southern boundary & Gandhi Street leading to OMR. Surrounding the lake, numerous settlements have sprouted out along the lake boundaries and especially western end. Karapakkam Kadaippaikeni was encroached upon along its boundaries. This Lake was used as a dumping site for solid waste for residences, open defecation & for discharging sewage from the neighborhood. The main source of water supply to the lake is from nearby upper areas. This water reaches the lake through the drain through Gandhi Street.
