Karumanchavadi Kulam
Karumanchavadi Kulam is located in Semmencherry, located south of the city about 18 km from the city centre, along the Old Mahabalipuram Road between Sholinganallur and Navalur. The suburb has experienced rapid development with the advent of IT companies along the Old Mahabalipuram Road. The areas around Karumanchavadi Kulam are being developed as residential areas on two sides. The pond abuts Pazhathotta Salai road on the western and south western sides and on the eastern and south eastern sides residential buildings are developed. Pazhathotta Salai which forms the boundary along the western end leads to old Mahabalipuram road whereas the majestic street forms the eastern boundary. This Pond was used by the local people to conduct funeral rites through many generations. Then the Greater Chennai Corporation has provided a building in this location to serve this need for the local population. Karumanchavadi Kulam has a local catchment and intercepted catchment. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
