Odaikeni Kulam is located in Sholinganallur. The rapid growth of Sholinganallur's economy, population and infrastructure can be attributed to Information Technology business Parks and dedicated Special Economic Zones (SEZ). The suburb has experienced rapid development with the advent of IT companies along the Old Mahabalipuram Road. Odaikeni Kulam is nearby Sri Pratyangira temple surrounded by residential areas on two sides. The school road forms the boundary along the western end, Sholinganallur main road on the northern end, Odaikeni Kulam residential areas form the eastern & eastern parts with 1st cross road forming the eastern boundary leading to Sholinganallur main road. Several settlements have sprouted out along the lake boundaries and especially in the eastern end, surrounding the lake. Odaikeni Kulam is encroached upon along its boundaries & its water pread area. Odaikeni is located in Kovalam river sub basin. Rain water from the local catchment is the main source and the surplus water from the water body finally drains into the Buckingham Canal. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
