Puduchery Keni
Puduchery Keni or Tank is located within Sholinganallur, a predominant Residential area within the Chennai Metropolitan area and is located in the IT corridor in south Chennai. The rapid growth of Sholinganallur's economy, population and infrastructure can be attributed to the large number of Information Technology business Parks and dedicated Special Economic Zones (SEZ). Sholinganallur is surrounded by other IT based suburbs such as Siruseri, Perungudi and Taramani. Sholinganallur was included in the Greater Chennai Corporation in 2011, and it is the last (200th) ward of Chennai city, administered as a part of Greater Chennai Corporation. Puduchery Keni is surrounded by mixed & primary residential areas. The Tank is bounded by the Balaji Nagar road on the east and south and Gangai Amman Koil Street on the west and vacant land in the north. Several neighborhoods were developed along the lake boundaries especially in the southern and western sides, surrounding the lake. Pudhucherykeni has a local catchment and intercepted catchment. The main source of water supply to the tank is from its own catchment. At present, water flows through the culvert constructed across the bund in the western side of the lake The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
