Saraya kulam - Pudhuchery pettai is located in Semmencherry. This suburb is located about 18 km away from the city centre, along the Old Mahabalipuram Road, between Sholinganallur and Navalur. The suburb has experienced rapid development with the advent of IT companies along the Old Mahabalipuram Road. Saraya Kulam - Puducherry Pettai is surrounded by under developed residential areas. As per the visit, the lake abuts Pettai salai on the western side. Saraya Kulam is located in the midst of recently developed residential areas in Korattur. These recent developments and human interventions have resulted in altering/bringing up changes in the original area of Saraya Kulam. Rain water from the local catchment is the main source. Though it is non-system tank, Saraya Kulam inflow and outflow of water are disturbed due to the urbanization activities and human interventions. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
