Sivan KoilKulam is a temple pond, owned by HR&CE Department and maintained by GCC.  Water in the pond is partly filled and found blackish in colour. There is an inlet to the pond and no out.  Pond is not connected to any upstream and downstream water sources.  Pond gets water storage only through monsoon rains. Benefits from the implementation of this project include improvement of water quality by diversion of sewage discharge and providing constructed wetland and floating wetland system. Due to de-silting, water storage will increase and made available throughout the year. Fish culture will be developed. With proper counseling and guidance by the GCC Engineers, the people of the area will take care of the pond and hence, water body will be protected. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
