Thamarai Keni Kulam is located in Ranga Reddy Garden, Neelankarai.This rectangle shaped pond is owned by the Revenue Department and maintained by Greater Chennai Corporation.Partly filled water in this pond is pale in colour. The pond is not connected to any catchment area or upstream and downstream water sources. Fishes are found and the water is free from garbage dumping and sewage discharge. With a systematic conventional disinfection treatment, pond water can be converted to usable condition. Benefits from the implementation of this project include improved ground water recharge and improved water quality by providing constructed and aquatic floating wetland systems. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
