While the smart city mission has a large focus on developing public infrastructure, it is also necessary to ensure that the citizens get familiar with the new environment. Thus, it will make the citizens get to know all about the new developments and come hand-in-hand with the technology. In keeping with that goal, CSCL strives to create a model to equip schools with technology-based digital learning zones for students and teachers to maximize learning outcomes for a smarter future which can be replicated in other schools in the city.
To start with, the Education officer of the Greater Chennai Corporation had selected 28 classrooms at various Corporation schools. These classrooms were transformed into Smart Classrooms by having them equipped with electricity, network connectivity and furniture. Samsung India Electronics has entered into a MoU with GCC, and agreed to provide required equipment for the Smart Classrooms.
Abiding by the proposals made by the Education Department of Greater Chennai Corporation under the Chennai Smart City Project, a detailed estimate was prepared for providing furniture, electrification and digital infrastructure to the 28 classrooms in Greater Chennai Corporation Schools. These Smart Classrooms will provide new methods of learning for students through interactive, digital interfaces.
Pacing up with the needs of the current generation of students, 28 classrooms within Greater Chennai Corporation were turned into Smart Classrooms with the help of technology. Samsung India Electronics has partnered with GCC and has provided the following equipments for the Smart Classrooms:
Samsung smart board/LED
Desktop unit (Monitor+CPU)
Accessories for tablets – Screen guard, Security device, Flip cover etc
Digital education content
Power backup inverters
Using the power of technology, the GCC is all set to upgrade the school life of many students in Chennai. The Chennai Smart City Project will leverage the efficiency of modern teaching methods and equipment to make sure the children of Chennai receive the best education through technology.
